Day 1: Welcome to Auckland
You will be met at the airport and transferred to your accommodation. You may have time this afternoon to tour the city and discover first-hand why Auckland is regarded as one of the best places to live.
Day 2: Auckland to Waitomo Caves to Rotorua
Departing early, this full-day tour has it all! From the magical glowworms and world-famous limestone formations of Waitomo to the rich cultural and geothermal bounty in Rotorua.
Day 3: Hobbiton day tour from Rotorua
Discover the real Middle-earth when you take this two hour guided tour of Hobbiton. Visit Hobbit Holes, the Green Dragon Inn, the Mill and the Party Tree, as well as learning how this piece of Waikato farmland was turned into the Shire. This evening visit Mitai Maori Village for an awe-inspiring introduction to the indigenous Maori Culture. Enjoy a traditionally cooked hangi meal and round your evening off with a spectacular cultural performance that tells the story of the Maori people, their past, carvings and ta Moko - Tattoo art. Be captivated by the displays of weaponry and combat and be amazing by the spine tingling Haka finale. Truly an experience to remember.
Day 4: Fly Rotorua to Wellington
You will be collection from your accommodation and transferred to Rotorua Airport. At Wellington you will be met on arrival into Wellington airport and transferred to oyour hotel. In the afternoon you will join a small group tour to explore the very best filming locations Wellington has to offer. See Rivendell, the River Anduin, Gardens of Isenbard, and the quarry used to the filming of Hels Deep.
Day 5: Wellington to Christchurch via Air New Zealand flight
You will be collected from your Wellington hotel and transferred to the airport. On arrival at the airport you will be met by a private driver and delivered to your Christchurch accommodation.
Day 6: Lord of the Rings Edoras full day tour
Journey to the remote and beautiful Mt Potts high country station, home of Mt Sunday. See how this spectacular mountain was transformed into Edoras. Marvel at its rugged unspoiled beauty and breathe in the clear mountain air, while you indulge in a gourmet sparkling wine picnic.
Day 7: Christchurch to Mt Cook National Park
Depart Christchurch in the morning and travel through the lush farmland of the Canterbury Plains towards the Southern Alps and Mount Cook National Park, home to New Zealand's tallest mountain. The tour concludes on arrival at Mount Cook Village, where you can explore and soak up the views of Aoraki / Mount Cook as it towers above.
Day 8: Mt Cook National Park to Queenstown
Depart Aoraki / Mount Cook National Park in the afternoon and head south through the tawny tussock of the Mackenzie Country. Crossing the Lindis Pass this is one of New Zealand's highest roads with the summit reaching 971 metres, you pass from the Masckenzie Basin into Central Otago. Approaching Queenstown the impressive Remarkables mountain range comes into view and then beaautiful Lake Wakatipu as you head towares the adventure and activity capital of New Zealand.
Day 9: Full day tour to Milford Sound
Return luxury coach transport from Queenstown to Milford Sound, with an extended two hour Nature Cruise along the full length of the fiord. On reaching Milford Sound, board the Milford Mariner for a leisurely extended cruise of the fiord. The cruise provides excellent viewing opportunities and plenty of time is available to enjoy waterfalls, rain forest, mountains and wildlife, with extensive commentary by the onboard nature guide. A boxed picnic lunch is included.
Day 10: Safari of the Scenes tour
Go on a scenic adventure through some of the iconic locations used in the filming. Although none of the sets are left behind, the landscapes will be instantly recognisable - Isengard, Lothlorien, Ithilien Camp and the Seat of Seeing.
Day 11: Queenstown to Fox Glacier
See the majestic Southern Alps, picturesque lakes and rivers and the wild beauty of the West Coast on this jounry, with your drive guide providing commentary on this unique region. Arriving on the West Coast, you enter an awe-inspiring landscape of vast rainforests, crystal clear waterfalls and rugged mountain tops. Here you will discover an isolated and tranquil part of New Zealand.
Day 12: Fox Glacier to Greymouth Train Station and TranzAlpine Train to Christchurch
Considered one of the world's great train journeys, the TranzAlpine Scenic Train takes you from Greymouth to Christchurch. You'll travel across the South Island from the west to the east coast through Arthur's Pass National Park. From the comfort of your carriage see lush beech forest, deep river valleys and the spectacular peaks of the Southern Alps. Descend to the windswept Canterbury Plains before arriving at the Christchurch Train Station. You will be met by a private transfer driver and taken to your accommodation.
Day 13: Depart Christchurch today
A private transfer driver will collection you from your accommodation and drive you to Christchurch Airport in time for your departing flight.
