Day 1: Auckland to Rotorua
Take a journey into the heart of the Central North Island, taking in the Waitomo Caves and Hobbiton Movie Set on a full-day sightseeing tour. After visiting Waitomo and Hobbiton, continue to Rotorua, arriving in the early evening.
Day 2: Rotorua Duck Tour & flight to Christchurch
You haven't seen Rotorua until you've seen it from a Duck! This 90 minute sightseeing adventure takes place on land and water, on-board a WWll amphibious Duck. With your conDUCKtor you will venture out of town to the spectacular lakes district where you will see magnificent views of Mt Tarawera and splashdown into Lake Tikitapu (Blue Lake) and Lake Okareka. Following this, you will join an Air New Zealand flight to Christchurch. On arrival you'll be met by a private driver and transferred to your motel.
Day 3: Lord of the Rings Edoras Tour
Journey to the remote and beautiful Mt Potts high country station, home of Mount Sunday. See how this spectacular mountain was transformed into Edoras - the capital city of the Rohan people from the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Marvel at its rugged unspoiled beauty and breathe in the clear mountain air, while you indulge in a gourmet sparkling wine picnic.
Day 4: Christchurch to Queenstown via Mount Cook
Leaving Christchurch in the morning, travel through the fertile farmland of the Canterbury Plains to the shores of the stunning glacier-fed Lake Tekapo where you can view the solitary Church of the Good Shepherd and take in the sights of the spectacular Southern Alps. Then continue to Aoraki / Mount Cook, situated in a national park and UNESCO World Heritage site. The tour continues south, where it concludes in the evening upon reaching Queenstown, the adventure capital of New Zealand.
Day 5: Middle Earth Full Day Tour
This will take you deep into Lord of the Rings country to explore the sights and scenery at a number of key filming locations. Along the way you'll enjoy some of the finest scenery in the world and have fun acting out your favourite scenes from the movies. Your guide will share their passion for the Lord of the Rings as well as the spectacular landscape you pass through. You'll also get to examine a range of fascinating weapons and costumes from the movies.
Day 6: Free day in Queenstown
Take a free day to explore Queenstown's many attractions - ride the Shotover Jet, do a Bungy jump or ride the Zipline. The less adventurous might prefer to float across Lake Wakatipu on the TSS Earnslaw or stroll the lakefront.
Day 7: Queenstown to Te Anau
Following the shores of Lake Wakatipu the Remarkables mountain range towers over as you approach the township of Kingston, then the coach heads into the Southand fertile farm country. The end of the journey is Te Anau, the gateway to Fiordland National Park.
Day 8: Milford Sound cruise
From Te Anau a coach takes you along the spectacular Milford Road. Photo stops are made on the way into Milford, with additional photo stops and a short walk on the return journey. On reaching Milford you join a Nature Cruise along the full-length of Milford Sound to the Tasman Sea. The cruise provides excellent viewing opportunities and plenty of time is available to enjoy waterfalls, rainforest, mountains and wildlife. A picnic boxed lunch is included. At the conclusion of the cruise you will be transported by coach to Queenstown.
Day 9: Depart Queenstown
