North of Dunedin, the town of Oamaru is an attractive centre known for its historic downtown precinct and beautiful buildings constructed out of the local limestone. There is a penquin colony right on the towns doorstep where you can watch the nightly procession of waddling penguins.
Dunedin is renowned for the finest Edwardian & Victorian architecture in the Southern Hemisphere. Also the famous Dunedin Railway Station which was built in 1906, a must to see.
