Day 1:  Arrive in Queenstown
On arrival you will be met at the airport and delivered to your Queenstown hotel.  A tour pack containing all the documentation required for the duration of your stay will be handed to you.

Day 2:  Queenstown - Franz Josef Glacier
Collect your rental car and travel across the Crown Range - the highest sealed road in New Zealand - to arrive in the Alpine town of Wanaka, gateway to Mt Aspiring National Park.  Continue on through the remote seaside settlement of Haast before heading up the wild West Coast. Fox Glacier welcomes you first, then comes your destination for the night - Franz Josef township.

Westwood is a purpose built lodge, crafted entirely from wood and exquisitely decorated throughout.
The lounge is the place to meet to watch the Southern Alps turn a soft pink in the setting sun.

Day 3:  Franz Josef - Christchurch
Head north along the stunning West Coast Road to Greymouth.  The next leg of your journey is the TranzAlpine Scenic Train.  Drop your rental car at Greymouth Train Station depot located inside the train station building before boarding the train to Christchurch.  On arrival at the Christchurch train station you will be met and taken to your accommodation.

Originally built in the 1880's, Merivale Manor has been transformed into elegant motel and apartment
accommodation. Less than 200 metres to central Merivale with its premier shopping, restaurants,
cafes and bars.

Day 4:   Christchurch - Aoraki Mt Cook National Park
Collect your rental car and drive through the heart of the South Island, crossing the vast Canterbury plains.  Take in the view of Aoraki Mt Cook (New Zealand's tallest mountain) from the shores of Lake Pukaki, known for its glacier fed turquise blue colour.  Continue along the lake to your final destination - Mt Cook Village.

Day 5:  Mt Cook National Park - Dunedin
Today you'll leave Mt Cook National Park and travel past Twizel, one of the locations for the Lord of the Rings films.  Driving through the Waitaki Valley follow the hydro power generating system towards the east coast, then continue south down the coast to Moeraki.  Take a detour towards the beach to see the Moeraki Boulders, a unique geologival feature well worth a look at.  As you arrive in Dunedin, take in the city's Edwardian and Scottish heritage reflected in the buildings around the city centre - The Octagon.

Day 6:  Dunedin - Te Anau
Travel through the rich farmnland farming scenery.  Head off the beaten track and follow the coastline instead of the inland route, going through the Catlins area.  Continue through Invercargill then head north to Manapouri.  From here you can embark on a day or overnight cruise to the remote Doubestul Sound - renowned for its natural beauty.  Just a short way further will bring you to your lakeside destination of Te Anau, gateway to Fiordland National Park and Milford Sound.

Day 7:  Te Anau - Queenstown
Today you'll cross vast tussock lands on your way to Queenstown.  Pass through Mossburn, the deer capital of the nation.  Continue on through the Southland countryside where the road begins to hug the lake edge and The Remarkables mountain range towers over your approach into the adventure capital of New Zealand.

Day 8:  Depart Queenstown today
Depending on when your flight departs you might have time for onelast Queenstown adventure before dropping your car off at the airport and catching your flight.
